about
Proud to be part of the first Suite: The Expatriate album! An ongoing collaboration led by Auroville-based Brazilian-Indian composer-guitarist Dhani Muniz, the project is about capturing the creative process in motion.
We managed to do just that on this album.

. . .
“Chimu Fiesta” is an album bred out of dissatisfaction and a healthy dose of anger. Some prefer to come up with a name or a concept before starting such a project, in order to give it shape; in this case, the shapes were lying around for a while, waiting for Dhani’s fellow musicians to take and transform them. It was this sudden outpouring after such a long period of gestation (the oldest piece dates back to when Dhani was 17) that prompted its title. The Chimu were a pre-Incan civilization now famed for, among other things, the intrinsic violence of their culture. And while no one was beheaded in the making of this record, it does signify a return to a certain type of creative violence, and one that is most often palpable in the early stages of things- abstract art, modern classical music, rock n’ roll, Delta blues, jazz, and basically all human civilization.
